Based in New Delhi, India HIV/AIDS Alliance (Alliance India) was founded in 1999 as a non-governmental organization working in partnership with civil society and communities to support sustained responses to HIV in India. Complementing the Indian national program, Alliance India works through capacity building, technical support and advocacy to strengthen the delivery of effective, innovative, community-based interventions to key populations affected by the epidemic.
The organization’s programs focus on those most vulnerable to HIV, with a particular emphasis on marginalized populations including men who have sex with men (MSM), transgenders, hijras, sex workers, injection drug users (IDUs), youth, and people living with HIV (PLHIV). Alliance India was established with support from the International HIV/AIDS Alliance (UK) and is part of the organization’s global network.
Dear people, I’m glad to have found your blog. As a European sex worker with Indian roots, challenging Hiv/aids is a topic I’m preoccupied with. My position as a sex worker makes me very vulnerable to std’s. Education and awareness is the key to a more healthy approach of the stigmatized disease of Aids/Hiv, and std’s in general.
Wish you all the best.
